Board Certified Radiation Oncologist

Dr. Jui-Lien “Lillian” Chou is a board certified radiation oncologist who is also a breast cancer survivor. Her passion is in providing comprehensive, compassionate and excellent healthcare. She is a breast care specialist and has dedicated herself to the development of state-of-the-art breast care centers for the benefit of her patients. She founded Aurora Breast Center San Antonio in September of 2009. Aurora Breast Center is the only comprehensive breast care center in San Antonio featuring a breast care clinic with cutting-edge breast imaging, biopsy and cancer treatment technology and a compassionate team.

Dr. Chou was born in Tainan, Taiwan, and received her M.D. from the prestigious Medical College, National Taiwan University, in 1980 with honors. In 1983, after three years of ophthalmology residency training at National Taiwan University Hospital, she moved to San Antonio, Texas to pursue her “American Dream” and to start the residency training in radiation oncology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She became board certified in Therapeutic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology in 1987 and has long been recognized for her excellence in radiation oncology practice and breast care.

Dr. Chou is married to Dr. Peter Ming-Tao Ho who is an ophthalmologist. They have three loving grown children. Dr. Chou’s other passions are edible organic gardening and promoting urban organic agriculture/UOA through community education programs, which are financially supported by Ho-Chou Family Foundation. Dr. Chou and her husband Dr. Ho started the foundation in 2002 for the benefit of the community to which they belong and love.

Dr. Dahlbeck has over 15 years of experience in radiation oncology, with a special expertise in the research and treatment of prostate cancer.  Dr. Dahlbeck has accordingly been the principal investigator of cutting-edge clinical trials in prostate cancer and has continued his pursuit of innovative cancer therapy discoveries, through the investigation of a promising new form of cancer therapy research and treatment called immunotherapy.  This passion for excellence reflects the mission of the Aurora Cancer Center, which has always been to deliver compassionate innovation, in conjunction with industry-leading services.  Consequently, Dr. Dahlbeck is honored to be a part San Antonio’s premier cancer therapy center.  When not working on cancer-related programs, Dr. Dahlbeck enjoys spending time with his family and grandchildren and fine-tuning his alternate tennis ego as the “next Roger Federer” of oncology.

Breast Radiologist

Dr. Steven E. Harms is recognized nationally in the area of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), specifically Breast MRI, and was named “Komen Foundation Scientist of the Year” by Susan G. Komen for the Cure in 1998. He was formerly on the faculty at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Baylor University Medical Center, and M. D. Anderson Cancer Institute. During his 14 years as director of MRI at Baylor, Dr. Harms and his research team developed MRI applications including RODEO Breast MRI. He helped draft the 2007 American Cancer Society breast cancer screening guidelines which recommend breast MRI screening for high-risk patients. Harms is a fellow of the Breast Imaging Society and has been on the Best Doctor’s in America since 2003. Harms practices at MANA’s The Breast Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and continues to be a clinical professor at UAMS.
Dr. Harms has authored over 90 scientific papers, 41 book chapters, and 9 patents. Dr. Harms is a fellow of the Breast Imaging Society. He is past-president of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. Dr. Harms is currently the Program Chairman of the American Society of Breast Disease and has served on the board of directors since 2003. Dr. Harms serves on the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Screening Guidelines Committee, American College of Radiology Breast MRI Lexicon Committee, and the Susan G. Komen Public Policy Committee. He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and the editorial board of The Breast Journal. In 2007, Dr. Harms lectured on “Breast MRI: Leading Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment in the 21st Century” and similar topics as a visiting professor at 15 medical schools and 11 medical conferences around the world. In 2010, Dr. Harms was named to the Best Doctors in America® list by his peers.



Clinical Director, Breast Care Specialist

Dr. Angelia Berkowitz is a doctor of Nursing Practice (Nurse Practitioner) and Clinical Director of The Breast Institute, where she focuses on early detection and intervention for women at high risk of breast cancer. Dr. Berkowitz was instrumental in shaping the partnership between Oncology San Antonio and Aurora Breast Center to establish The Breast Institute.
She also collaborates with Dr. Jaffar in evaluating and treating OSA’s medical oncology patients. Dr. Berkowitz has been published in the Journal of Neuroscience Nursing and The American Journal for Nurse Practitioners and is active in numerous health-centered community efforts.

Breast Radiologist

Kevin L. Pope, M.D. is a Clinical Breast Radiologist who has provided imaging services in Northwest Arkansas for over 20 years. Dr. Pope, along with Dr. Danna Grear developed the first image-guided breast biopsy program in Northwest Arkansas in 1995. He and Dr. Danna Grear founded The Breast Center, a MANA clinic, the first independent, dedicated breast center in Arkansas in 2003.

Dr. Pope is an active contributor to the Multidisciplinary Breast Conference at Washington Regional Medical Center and has served the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation in various capacities. He is a Member of the American Society of Breast Disease and the Society of Breast Imaging. Dr. Pope is often a featured speaker on breast imaging and early cancer detection for special interest groups in the community and medical field.
In the fall of 2008, Dr. Pope traveled to Romania to lead a conference on breast care and early detection of breast cancer for the country’s physicians and medical staff. At the conference, he conducted a series of lectures, hands-on workshops on needle biopsy, and an ultrasound workshop with live models. Since that trip, he and Sarah Faitak, the clinic manager, and nurse have established an International Breast Imaging Fellowship in Northwest Arkansas that sponsors one to two medical students each year to come to The Breast Center and other medical facilities to provide training and learn about new technologies.
